Hotel Das Central, Sölden (Austria) review
If you ask me what define 5-star hotels from the others, it would be the effort to be luxurious and perfect in many little details. Das Central is the only 5* hotel in Solden and its standard is much higher than I expected. Because being the only 5* hotel in town doesn’t really give them any incentive to improve, but my experience in Das Central says the otherwise. It has for sure lived up to its philosophy – ALPINE. LUXURY. LIFE. This is a perfect place for groups and families, because they really take care of their guests in every possible way. They have breath-taking spa facilities, luxurious chalet room design with a touch of high-tech homeware, a 24-hours magical reception that solved many of my crisis and a foodie-approved (me!) restaurant. I have been to many resorts and 5* hotels, but I have to say this from the bottom of my heart, Das Central’s offerings were very impressive and almost everything was way above my expectation.
Das Central provides different categories of rooms to suit different kind of holiday for everyone. From double room, family suite, to penthouse presidential suite, I ensure you can find whatever you need. I have to say their rooms are really spacious, even the cheapest double room is so much bigger than most of the one in other ski resorts hotel. The rooms here are designed to provide intuitive well-being and harmony. They wooden elements remind you of the chalet in the slope, but the high-tech TV and light controls are there to ensure you the most comfortable stay. And please take a moment to appreciate their home-made shampoo and shower gel, they are golden-dusted! Embarrassing it is, but I have to admit that I was playing with the sparkly shower gel for half an hour in the shower! When you are going on a ski-holiday, the most important thing would be how comfortable your room is. Because after a long day in the slope, all I want to do is to lie down and have a good rest while my muscle aching!
One thing very special about Das Central is their way to deliver ‘wellness’. Their 3 levels, 1500 m2spa and sauna facilities are truly enchanting. To be very honest, this is a place that I won’t mind staying until my fingers couldn't get any more wrinkly! The ‘Water World Venezia’ mimics the venetian way of tranquility. Different traditions and rituals of spa and relaxation can be found here. All you need to do is close your eyes and enjoy! They have so many different sauna rooms that I wish I can try them all! But out of all, my favourites are the salt sauna and hot stone bed! Since I can't take pictures inside the sauna room, you have to see them yourself! But trust me, I have never been so spoiled by choice in the spa area of a hotel before.
Although I don’t have any picture of my own to show you how good the food is (because I was too busy eating, haha!), I can promise you The Feinspitz hotel restaurant offers the best in town. In the evening, the hotel restaurant organises weekly gala dinner with candles and 6-course menu, perfect for special occasion! To be very honest, I am not a big fan of Austrian food, they are just not very attractive to me! But Gottfried Prantl (head chef at Das Central) has definitely changed my mind. The traditional Alpine food with a touch of creativity can also be so enjoyable! Other than the main restaurant, the hotel also has a fondue restaurant, day bar and cigar lounge; ensuring all gourmet requests can be fulfilled at any time! Nothing beats comfort food after a long hungry day on the slope, right?
Overall, I had a splendid time at Das Central at Solden. The freshly fallen snow, lively town full of beer and music and the luxurious offerings at Das Central make Solden an addictive place to visit. I would definitely come back! And when I do, I swear I have to try more sauna rooms here, they are simply too amazing! If you want to perfect your time after hitting the slope, this is the place to go. If you want to spend a harmonious family time here, this is the place to go. Thank you so much for having me, it was eye-opening to see how far you guys can go just to make your guests' stay a better one!
